Who Is Horwin?

So what is this Horwin brand, and why should you care about them? They are a Chinese/Austrian mobility company who have worldwide sales, but this is their first foray into the U.S. market. Their U.S. office, Horwin America, is based in California.

The brand wants to make advanced transportation as well as eventually move into making wearable tech and AI for assistive robots for the elderly and people with disabilities. On their website, they say they are “committed to making the impossible a reality.”

Horwin Senmenti 0: An Impressive Electric Moto

The Senmenti 0 electric motorcycle has a futuristic design, though its styling and footrests make it look a bit more scooter-like. Beyond the looks, the performance is impressive. It has incredible acceleration, boasting a 0-60 time of 2.8 seconds. The 72 kW (96.6 hp) motor offers a face-bending 894 Nm of torque, and a top speed electronically limited to 125 mph. Combined range is claimed at 186 miles out of the 16.9 kWh battery.

These specs are incredible. Comparing this to a Zero SR/S, it beats it in nearly every spec, at least from the claim — faster 0-60 time, 4 times the torque, and miles more range. The Zero edges the Senmenti 0 out when it comes to horsepower, with 110 hp over the Senmenti’s just under 100 hp.

It offers DC fast charging, going from 0-80% in 30 minutes, which means a full charge will likely take an hour. It’s compatible with most home charging stations for overnight charging, as well. It has an AI-powered Advanced Riding Assistance System that is designed to increase personalization, as the system collects data to understand the way the rider rides to help prevent accidents and enhance “rider protection and confidence.”

They also have a vehicle-to-vehicle network technology that collects data from other active Horwin bikes to personalize the experience for each individual rider based on behaviors and preferences.

It has ABS braking, with a 2-piston rear disc brake and 4-piston in the front, provided by J. Juan (incidentally, the same brand Zero uses) and KYB suspension. There are what they call “dynamic riding modes” designed for urban landscapes — AKA city riding versus highway riding.

The Horwin Senmenti 0 price is a full $4 grand cheaper than the Zero SR/S, at $16,800. You can reserve one for a $100 deposit, which will also get you 3 years of free charging if you’re one of the first 500 to reserve one.

How To Buy a Horwin Senmenti 0

Horwin will be opening an Experience Center in Marina del Rey, California, this year. Potential customers can apply now for a demo ride of the 0 brand that will be coming in Q3 of 2024.

“We’re thrilled to introduce Horwin and tell our story to new audiences. The U.S. is obviously a critical sales market for any EV company. As vehicle manufacturers transition to an all-electric future, Horwin is already ahead of the curve, thanks to years of developing advanced 5G-enabled manufacturing processes enriched with artificial intelligence to pioneer a more sustainable future,” said Wendsor Zhou Wei, CEO and founder of Horwin.

“We look forward to showing riders, from performance enthusiasts to first-timers, all the advantages of riding an electric motorcycle. We want people to think of Horwin like your smartphone – you can’t leave home without it,” said Wei.

Future Horwin Electric Motorcycle Offerings

Horwin also teased two other models that look like they’re straight out of the movie Tron.

Horwin Senmenti X Hyper GT

The Horwin Senmenti X Hyper GT electric motorcycle is a massive beast, with enough battery to go a WLTP-estimated 250 miles on a single charge. It will have a DC outlet to potentially charge other bikes, an adaptable riding position, and a top speed of 125 mph. Imagine showing up at The Rock Store on this thing!

Horwin Senmenti 11

Another model is the Senmenti 11, featuring sleek panels, oversized wheels (a split one at the back) and an aggressive stance.

At a recent presentation, the company said these two models would be in production in 2025. According to a friend who went to EICMA, the big motorcycle show in Italy, they showed those bikes and made that claim of “it’s coming out next year!” — but that was a couple of years ago. We’ll see it when we see it. But I’m excited about the Senmenti 0 electric motorcycle.

If you’re reading this, Horwin, I want one to review!
