  • Hyundai is offering a free ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 charger to shoppers who purchase or lease an IONIQ 5, IONIQ6, or Kona EV.
  • The program runs from September 21 through October 31, 2023.
  • Customers must arrange for installation within 90 days of leasing or purchasing a new Hyundai EV.

After years of filling cars at gas stations, new EV drivers often experience a learning curve regarding charging. Unfortunately, many automakers don’t provide much assistance for new EV drivers leaving them to navigate the process on their own.

Until now.

Hyundai announced it will help new EV drivers with residential and public charging. The automaker will include a complimentary ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 charger and up to $600 off installation through Hyundai Home Marketplace.

Details on the Special Charging Program

Shoppers can take advantage of this special offer from September 21 through October 31, 2203. The special offer applies to shoppers who purchase or lease one of three Hyundai EVs:

After purchasing or leasing a new Hyundai EV, customers have 90 days from the close of the sale to schedule installation for the new ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 EV Charger. The total value of this special program is $1,100, after factoring in the $549 cost of the charger and the $600 credit for installation expenses. Hyundai Motor Finance will provide buyers with a coupon code for the special deal.

Making Residential EV Charging Convenient and Affordable

Customers will work with an Energy Advisor at Electrum through Hyundai Home. Advisors will assist customers through the installation process, helping them find a reliable electrician and get the required permits, if necessary.

José Muñoz, president and global COO of Hyundai Motor Company and president and CEO of Hyundai Motor North America, said, “With this offer, we’re making it easier for everyone to go electric by providing our EV customers with an expert Energy Advisor who can personally walk them through the process of outfitting their homes with the proper charging, energy storage and collection equipment using our Hyundai Home Marketplace.”

The goal is to nudge EV-curious drivers toward a new zero-emissions vehicle. Having a friendly advisor teaching new EV drivers how to charge at home and on the road takes away some of the anxiety that comes with learning a new routine.

Chargeway Simplifies Public EV Charging

New EV drivers can learn more about charging on the road by using the Chargeway app. The app uses a color-coded and numerical system to simplify the process of figuring out what will work and where.

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 have a powerful charging architecture, they can use the speediest charging ports – represented as the number 7 inside of a green circle. These two EVs can also use any green circles, but those with the 7 will charge the fastest.

The Hyundai Kona has a different charging architecture, so while drivers can still use the green 7 stations, they won’t charge any faster than stations labeled as green 4, 5, or 6.

What is Hyundai Home?

Hyundai

The Hyundai Home Marketplace is a one-stop shop for sustainable products from Hyundai. The marketplace features EV chargers, solar panels, energy storage systems, and more. The automaker partnered with Electrum to help those interested in reducing their impact on the electric grid.

Electrum has expertise in home energy solutions, and Hyundai has become a leader in zero-emissions mobility. The partnership will help people overcome the challenges involved in going green at home and on the road.

  1. Hyundai’s initiative to offer complimentary EV chargers and installation is a game-changer in the electric vehicle market. This move not only showcases Hyundai’s commitment to sustainability but also addresses a significant barrier to EV adoption – charging infrastructure. By providing free chargers and installation, Hyundai is not only making EV ownership more accessible but also supporting the transition towards greener transportation. This customer-centric approach not only benefits current EV owners but also encourages more consumers to consider making the switch to electric vehicles. It’s a win-win for both Hyundai and the environment, paving the way for a more sustainable future. If you are looking for more information about ev charger installation
