Marriott and EV Connect Partner to Add Hotel Destination Chargers

Car charging in a parking lot - Marriott and EV Connect partner to offer guest charging.
  • Marriott and EV Connect will work together to scale EV charging stations at individual hotel locations.
  • By the end of 2023, more than 14 million EVs will be on the road, so hoteliers who offer charging stations could grow their customer bases.
  • Marriott International has almost 8,600 hotel locations and 31 brands that could feature EV Connect charging stations.

Destination charging is becoming easier for EV drivers thanks to hotel chains like Marriott International. A few weeks after Hilton Hotels announced a partnership with Tesla to install over 2,000 universal wall chargers at their hotel locations, Marriott announced a similar partnership with EV Connect.

Building Customer Loyalty With EV Charging Stations

Marriott properties will manage the EV charging station thanks to turnkey solutions from EV Connect. With over 14 million electric vehicles expected on the road at the end of 2023, hotel brands without EV charging stations will lose customers to brands with charging stations.

Charging Station Maintenance Agreements and Warranties

EV Connect will set up the stations and help Marriott manage and optimize the stations. The hotelier will choose the charging hardware so they can scale it to the size and demographics of individual locations. EV Connect will include a warranty plan that covers parts and labor to provide peace of mind for the hotel owners. Qualified maintenance teams will handle repairs, software updates, and other charging station upkeep

How to Find the Charging Stations and Hotels

Marriott International has about 8,600 properties in 139 counties. The 31 brands include Westin, Courtyard, Sheraton, The Ritz-Carlton, Aloft, and JW Marriott. Their unique customer experiences and new charging stations will provide travel solutions for drivers who need overnight charging.

Charging apps like Chargeway and the EV Connect app will show the charging stations, helping EV drivers plan their road trips and overnight charging sessions. EV drivers will use the EV Connect app to pay for their charging time. Marriott customers can also find hotels with charging stations using the company’s Bonvoy app.

Collaborations Building Sustainability

Andrew Bodziak, Senior Vice President of Global Operations at Marriott International said, “Our guests increasingly expect EV charging stations at our properties, and this collaboration will help us meet rapidly evolving consumer demand and further the company’s sustainability goals.”

EV Connect offers an open charging platform with intuitive set-up, management, and customer service implementation. The company has established seamless EV charging in 41 states by establishing partnerships with companies like GM, Love’s Travel Stops, Hilton, and ADP.
