After months of hype and a master class in marketing, the reborn DeLorean Alpha5 makes its real-world debut at Pebble Beach.
The new electric DeLorean made its debut yesterday at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, taking center stage as one of the most anticipated – if not the most anticipated new car launches of the year.
Developed in partnership with Italdesign, the designers of the original 1980s icon, the sporty GT maintains that car’s signature gullwing doors, classic rear louvers, and three-layered taillights in a way that pays homage to the original without being either a copy or a redo with crazy headlights and even wilder doors (yes, that’s possible).
Despite not showing off either its claimed 2.99-second 0-60 MPH capability or 300 mile range, it seems like the car was a hit … for both the brand and the event. “As one of the premier events in the world, Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is an important steppingstone in the future of DeLorean Motors Reimagined, and we are grateful to be a part of this year’s event to showcase the Alpha5 and its predecessors,” says Troy Beetz, chief marketing officer of DeLorean Motors Reimagined.
