Randy Hoover’s love for cars goes way back to his childhood, where tinkering with cars alongside his uncles planted the seeds of his passion. Fast forward to today, and Randy has been celebrated across the United States in custom electric vehicles (EVs), pushing boundaries and redefining what’s possible with his latest project, a 2022 Tesla Model 3 Performance.

From its striking Inozetek Racing Yellow Wrap to the commanding presence of the Nine Lives Racing Big Wang, Randy’s attention to detail in design has captivated car enthusiasts globally. And when it comes to performance, his upgraded 2022 Tesla Model 3 Performance, modified with Mountain Pass Performance upgrades and Unplugged Performance sway bars, leaves no doubt about its capability on the road. Just recently, it even snagged the prestigious “Best Performance presented by Top Gear” award at Electrify Showoff Driven by Yokohama in Orlando, FL.
Hoover’s journey into customizing electric vehicles began with a passion deeply rooted in his childhood experiences. “Growing up as a kid, my uncles both always were working on their cars, customizing them,” reminisces Hoover. “I have fond memories riding around in my uncle’s Chevy Impala lowrider, and I think that planted the seed.”
His passion for customizing cars, combined with his lifelong love for automobiles, inspired him to undertake his latest project: turning the Tesla Model 3 Performance into a stunning build that turns heads. Even though he had worked on many builds before, mostly with Hondas in the mid to late 2000s, this project was his first venture into personal customization.
“I mean it ultimately boiled down to my short list of not-full-sized performance sedans, and after driving it I knew this was going to be my next adventure,” Hoover explains regarding his decision to choose the Tesla Model 3 as the platform for his build.
Hoover’s modifications extend to various components of the vehicle, showcasing his attention to detail and bold design philosophy. From the stunning Rays Gram Lights 57 DR wheels to the aggressive stance provided by the Universal Air Systems air struts, each modification shows how Hoover is committed to pushing the limits of customizing cars.

“My favorite aspect of the build is that I went as wild as I felt like doing, between the bright color and big wing, I really think not holding back is what makes it good,” Hoover mentions, highlighting his commitment to pushing boundaries and embracing creativity.
While the journey to achieving his dream build was not without its challenges, Hoover remained undeterred. “I wouldn’t say there were any major challenges, but nothing ever goes according to plan,” he admits, stressing the need for resilience and adaptability required in car modifying.
In selecting brands for his build, Hoover prioritized performance, reliability, and aesthetic appeal. “I chose brands that I felt confident would complement my vision for the build,” he states. Among the notable brands featured in his Tesla Model 3 Performance are Mountain Pass Performance and Unplugged Performance, renowned for their high-quality aftermarket components.
Throughout the customization process, Hoover drew inspiration from various sources, including his own experiences and the vibrant automotive community. “I’ve been a car person for pretty much my whole life, so just the years of cars, the 2000s JDM scene, other custom Model 3 owners like AJ Velasco, CJ Cardinalli, William Madayag, so many others,” he acknowledges, recognizing the collective influence of fellow enthusiasts and iconic automotive trends.
As Hoover reflects on his journey, he shares a heartfelt message with fellow enthusiasts: “Do what makes you happy, even if people don’t see your vision.” His words resonate as a testament to the transformative power of passion and individuality in the world of automotive customization.
