In a symbolic gesture on Leap Day, LG Energy Solution and Honda commemorated a significant achievement at their joint venture’s new EV battery production facility near Jeffersonville, Ohio. The installment of the final structural steel beam marked a pivotal moment in the construction timeline of this cutting-edge plant.

Construction Progress

The completion of this final structural beam follows an amazing direction since the ceremony nearly one year ago. With over 2 million square feet dedicated to the facility’s construction, it is anticipated to be fully operational by the end of 2024. A huge investment of $4.4 billion underlines the commitment to innovation and growth in the EV market. The project also promises to inject vitality into the local economy by generating approximately 2,200 employment opportunities.

Bob Lee, CEO of the LG Energy Solution-Honda joint venture, expressed his sentiment, stating, “Today is an important milestone for the LG Energy Solution-Honda team as the structure of the EV battery production facility takes its final shape.”

Alongside the remarkable progress in construction, the joint venture is actively recruiting talent to power its operations. Rick Riggle, COO of the joint venture, emphasized the significance of this recruitment drive, affirming, “This is a very exciting moment as we take the first steps to assemble our new team for the joint venture EV battery facility being established by LG Energy Solution and Honda.”

Career opportunities ranging from engineering to production roles are currently available, with further positions expected to be unveiled in the coming months. Riggle underscored the importance of these roles in shaping the future of advanced manufacturing, particularly in the area of EV battery production, which will fuel the forthcoming Acura and Honda EV models slated for production in Ohio by late 2025.
