BMW Brand Soars to New Heights
In the fourth quarter of 2023, BMW reported the sale of 107,881 vehicles in the U.S., marking a 6% increase from the same period in 2022 when 101,738 vehicles were sold. The Rise of BMW Electric Vehicles
One of the driving forces behind BMW’s success in 2023 was its EV lineup. With the introduction of the first-ever BMW i5 in November, the brand expanded its electric offerings to include the BMW i4, BMW i5, BMW i7, and BMW iX. In the fourth quarter of 2023, BMW sold 14,374 battery electric vehicles (BEV), a remarkable 65.4% increase from the same quarter in 2022 when 8,689 were sold. Over the course of the entire year, BMW sold 45,417 battery electric vehicles, accounting for an impressive 12.5% of total sales.
Additionally, the company also saw substantial sales of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) in 2023, totaling 25,318 units. In total, BMW sold 70,735 electrified vehicles, constituting 19.5% of its total sales. These figures underscore BMW’s commitment to sustainable mobility and its ability to cater to a diverse range of customer preferences.
Sebastian Mackensen, President & CEO of BMW of North America, attributes the company’s success to its extensive and high-quality product lineup, as well as its strong partnership with its national dealer network. He emphasized that BMW continues to deliver the ultimate driving experience, whether customers choose an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle, a fully electric vehicle, or a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.

These outstanding sales figures for both the BMW and MINI brands in the U.S. in 2023 underscore the growing prominence of electric vehicles in the automotive landscape.
