EV Drivers Can Now Rate Charging Stations with Chargeway and Consumer Reports

Chargeway EV charging app partners with Consumer Reports for a better charging experience at a charging station.
  • Chargeway partnered with Consumer Reports, letting EV drivers submit charging station reviews directly through the app to improve public EV charging.
  • The Chargeway app uses a color-coded system to help drivers find compatible charging stations and report detailed charging session info.
  • Chargeway Plus offers features for Tesla, Rivian, and Ford, including real-time notifications and automatic charging stop recommendations.

When it comes to charging your EV, the experience should be straightforward, hassle-free, and reliable. But sometimes it’s not. If you’ve ever had trouble finding a working charging station or been left wondering why your charging session wasn’t as efficient as you’d hoped, you’re not alone.

Thankfully, Chargeway is making EV charging easier and clearer for drivers across North America. With their new partnership with Consumer Reports, they’re giving EV drivers an even stronger voice to share their experiences.

Simpler, Smarter Way to Charge

At its core, Chargeway’s app is designed to take the stress out of charging your EV. The app’s color-coded system for “electric fuel” is intuitive enough that even first-time EV owners can quickly understand which stations are compatible with their vehicle.

Whether you’re at a Level 1 station for a quick top-up or a Level 7 fast charger, like Tesla Superchargers or Electrify America charging stations, Chargeway’s interface gives you all the info you need to make informed decisions. And now, they’ve taken it a step further.

Through a collaboration with Consumer Reports, Chargeway has introduced a new feature that allows users to submit detailed reviews and feedback on their charging experiences directly from the app. No more shouting into the void of social media when a station doesn’t meet your expectations. Instead, your reviews are forwarded to Consumer Reports, who will rate these charging stations and provide valuable data to automakers, policymakers, and charging networks.

According to Matt Teske, Founder of Chargeway, “From day one Chargeway has focused on a driver first app design to provide easier EV charging experiences as well as transparency for what drivers can anticipate at a station they choose. Through developing the most intuitive and intelligent experience for EV drivers we share Consumer Reports’ goal to give drivers a voice in the public EV charging reliability conversation.”

A Voice for Every EV Driver

One of the key frustrations many EV drivers face is inconsistency at charging stations. Whether it’s unreliable uptime, poor station maintenance, or inaccurate information, these issues can lead to a frustrating experience. But Chargeway’s new reporting feature fixes those problems.

The app collects essential data from your charging session—network, address, and vehicle type—along with advanced options like power received and battery percentages at arrival and departure. Once this information is collected, Consumer Reports will analyze and share their findings with stakeholders, helping to hold charging networks accountable.

By bridging the gap between everyday drivers and industry players, Chargeway’s new feature is helping improve the overall charging experience. If you’ve ever been left scratching your head at a broken charging station or felt ignored when trying to report issues, this app gives you the tools to make a real impact. And if you’re already a fan of other networks like EVgo charging stations or ChargePoint charging stations, you’ll still find compatibility and support through the app.

Expanded Features for a Better Charging Experience

Chargeway’s recent update has brought even more features designed to improve your EV experience. Through Chargeway Plus, users can unlock advanced connectivity features with cars from major automakers like Tesla, Rivian, and Ford. This includes features like real-time notifications, better tracking of charging sessions, and automatic recommendations for charging stops based on your route and vehicle’s needs. It’s like having a smart assistant to guide you through the sometimes tricky process of finding EV charging stations.

If you’re comfortable using apps like Google Maps for directions, then integrating these new features into your driving routine will feel second nature. The app not only shows you which charging stations are nearby but also provides you with the most relevant details like power level and charging speed. This is particularly helpful when navigating the mix of Level 1 through Level 7 charging and different network stations that make up today’s EV infrastructure.

  1. Very, very interesting! Once a customer makes a complaint about a particular dispenser, where does that information go? Is it somehow funneled to the CPO?
Speaking of which, Is there any indication that CPOs are monitoring Chargeway to help keep track of the health of their equipment in the field?
