  • The LDVs are produced as part of Canoo’s phased-ramp manufacturing initiative in Oklahoma.
  • Select clientele and partners will receive orders of Canoo LDVs in 2023.

On November 13, 2023, Canoo Inc., a leading player in the high-tech mobility industry, made a significant announcement. The company reported that it had begun delivering its first “Made in Oklahoma” electric vehicles to the state of Oklahoma. This remarkable milestone represents the commencement of Canoo’s phased-ramp manufacturing initiative in Oklahoma. In addition, the company confirmed its plan to ship its Lifestyle Delivery Vehicle (LDV) models to select clientele and partners in 2023. The number of units shipped is expected to increase substantially in 2024.

“We are proud to be part of this historic moment as Canoo builds momentum on its road to full-scale production,” said Governor Kevin Stitt. “This marks Oklahoma’s return to vehicle manufacturing and proves ‘The Sooner State’ is the right place to grow cutting-edge businesses and create new jobs.”

Canoo Inc. Expands Commitment to Oklahoma with Over 1,300 New Jobs and Historic LDV Manufacturing

Canoo Inc. has further bolstered its commitment to the state of Oklahoma by announcing significant employment opportunities. The company is actively hiring for its facilities located in Oklahoma City and Pryor, anticipating the creation of over 1,300 jobs. This not only underlines Canoo’s growth strategy but also contributes positively to the local economy. It’s worth noting that the manufactured Lifestyle Delivery Vehicles (LDVs) are the first commercial motor vehicles to be built in Oklahoma since 2006. These LDVs are earmarked for delivery to the Office of Management and Enterprise Services (OMES), marking a significant milestone in Oklahoma’s automotive history.

“It’s an honor to partner with the state of Oklahoma and its workforce to create a legacy for electric vehicles in America’s Heartland,” said Tony Aquila, Chairman and CEO of Canoo. “What is inspiring to me is that it takes just a small group of innovators and hardworking believers who find a way to win. I want to thank Governor Stitt and his team for believing in us. We want our vehicles to provide service to Oklahomans who have been our partners on this journey.”
