Wilier Urta Promises Ultralight Power

Sub-16kg Wilier Urta Hybrid eMTB packs more power than most ultralight e-mountain bikes

An eMTB requires agility and light weight. Italian Wilier is trying to meet those needs with the new, streamlined Urta Hybrid.

Weighing in at 16 kilos (just slightly over 35 lbs), the Urta Hybrid offers up a nice light weight for an e-bike. It has a full carbon frame and minimalist upper linkage to save weight, and the fully internal cabling keeps everything cleaner and more streamlined.

Meanwhile, the body design itself has been made with mountain biking in mind, including a 120 mm suspension travel that allows riders to easily tackle technical terrain. The slack 66.7-degree head angle and 74-degree seat angle makes this a solid light trail/downcountry e-bike. And there are two bottle cage mounts, for either two water bottles or to mount an optional 210 Wh range extender that slides right into one of the bottle holders.

Speaking of range, the standard 430 Wh battery should offer around two to three hours of continuous ride time – or about 30-40 miles, if you’re wired to think in terms of miles instead of hours.

Pricing for the Wilier Urta Hybrid starts at €7,000 (a touch under $7,300) for the base model with Shimano XT components. The top-of-the-line version with the SRAM XX1 Eagle components is priced at €12,500 (just over $13,000).
