ORA Lightning Cat Hits Dealers This Month

China has been killing it with all of the new EV releases. Now we have the Lightning Cat from ORA that will start deliveries this month.

The ORA Lightning Cat incorporates both sporty and retro design elements, from the pop-up rear spoiler, pop-out door handles wide rear fenders, hatchback trunk area, and cute round front headlights.

There are two powertrain systems available. First, there’s the single electric motor 2WD version with a max power of 150 kW and two cruising ranges of up to 555 km (345 miles) and 705 km (438 miles). Then there’s the dual-motor 4WD version with a max power of 300 kW, a peak torque of 680 Nm, and a cruising range of up to 600 km (373 miles).

The interior keeps the retro vibe with brown seats and paneling. Even the free-standing touch screen doesn’t take up too much room. A neat touch for female/fabulous drivers is the designated storage for high heels and a dedicated makeup area.

ORA, an EV marque under Great Wall Motors, first came to Europe in September 2021 for the Munich Auto Show, showing off the Lightning Cat concept. With a reveal like that, we can maybe expect to see the Lightning Cat officially launch in the European market too.
