California-based INDI is backed by a Chinese mobile gaming empire, so it’s no surprise they’ve partnered with Foxconn!
The news broke today that INDI and Foxconn had signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) that paves the way for Foxconn to manufacture the first INDI One pre-production vehicles at the iPhone supplier’s Lordstown, Ohio factory — the same factory that’s set to build the Lordstown Endurance electric pickup and Fisker Pear hatchback.
“The INDI One is a unique vehicle and it demands the highest quality of automotive craftsmanship as well as consumer electronics manufacturing and engineering. Partnering with Foxconn, the world’s leader in consumer electronics, during this exciting time in their entry into electric vehicles means that INDI One drivers will lead the way into the future of personal transit,” said INDI founder and CEO, Shi Hai, in a statement.
We had the chance to experience the INDI One EV at Electrify Expo Long Beach earlier this year, and got to see the excitement the vehicle caused as people listened to the product experts explain the “super computer” powering the Windows-based infotainment system that powered the in-car experience. You can watch the car’s official launch video for yourself, below, then let us know what you think of the EV startup in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
