The heart of the Big Apple now features the fastest EV charging in the United States, thanks to Gravity’s technology. Located at 401 West 42nd Street, this charging center features 24 500kW charging systems strategically positioned within the indoor parking garage, a partnership forged with Related Companies. What makes Gravity’s solution special is its clever ceiling-mounted design, which makes the most out of parking spaces without requiring extra land or utility upgrades.
Gravity’s charging systems are UL Solutions certified and supported by GV (Google Ventures), providing exceptional speed and efficiency in EV charging. With the ability to charge at a rate of 2,400 miles per hour – equivalent to adding 200 miles of range in just five minutes – Gravity’s equipment outperforms competitors like Tesla. Despite this, it remains compact and adaptable for use in different environments.
Moshe Cohen, CEO of Gravity Inc., highlights the pivotal role of charging speed in driving EV adoption, stating, “Automakers love to tout their EVs’ top driving speed, but what matters more than anything for drivers is how fast a car can charge.” Cohen sees Gravity’s technology as sparking a big change across the industry, leading to cars with batteries that charge much faster. It’s like the beginning of a whole new era for electric vehicles.

The Manhattan Plaza site is where Gravity has fully introduced its equipment to the public for the first time. They’re already working on several more sites, showing how committed they are to offering fast and accessible charging options to keep up with the increasing need for EV infrastructure.
In addition to its rapid charging capabilities, Gravity’s Distributed Energy Access Points (DEAPs) offer bidirectional charging functionality, enabling power transfer between vehicles and the electrical grid. This bidirectional capability not only supports EV charging but also augments electrical grids, stabilizing and allocating power to prevent demand spikes without the need for costly infrastructure upgrades.
Richard Kauffman, Chair of NYSERDA, applauds Gravity’s innovative approach to EV charging, mentioning, “Gravity’s innovative charging technology is a market changer that will allow the public in one of the largest and busiest cities in the world the ability to ‘charge and go’ more quickly.”
Con Edison, through its PowerReady incentive program, plays a pivotal role in supporting the expansion of EV charging infrastructure in New York City. Raghu Sudhakara, Vice President of Distributed Resource Integration at Con Edison, expresses pride in supporting Gravity’s Midtown facility, highlighting its contribution to the city’s transition towards a sustainable transportation future.
