Episode 209: Super Bowl Ads, LiveWire Sells Kids’ Bikes, Self-driving F-150

generic podcast cover - electrify news

This weekend’s Super Bowl “big game” brought us a lot of big commercials for electric cars. This week, Jo and Chris talk about EV marketing, and how that somehow always benefits Tesla.

We also talk about how Harley-Davidson’s LiveWire brand doin’ it for the children, why the $40,000 Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup is getting a summon mode similar to the $80,000 Model S luxury sedan, and how the Rivian may not be the best choice for the tailgating crowd.

  • In this post, Micah Toll talks about LiveWire revenue being about evenly split between motorcycles … and kids’ balance bikes.
  • We mention an unreleased update to the FordPass app was leaked showing off a version of the “summon” function on Teslas. You can read more about it here.
