Could myths and misunderstandings about EV charging be the biggest barriers to going electric? Electrify Expo is addressing this challenge with its new EV Charging Zone, designed to educate and inspire confidence in electric mobility. Building on the success of the Amazon Recharge Zone in 2024, this latest initiative focuses on one of the EV market’s most misunderstood aspects: charging infrastructure.
This immersive experience, launching at the Orlando event in March 2025, will dispel outdated myths and provide attendees with hands-on learning opportunities. Through interactive demonstrations, Q&A sessions, and direct interaction with charging hardware and software brands, attendees will gain the knowledge and confidence needed to transition to electric vehicles.
“EV charging technology, speed, and range have advanced significantly over the past decade,” explained BJ Birtwell, CEO and Founder of Electrify Expo. “However, consumers are oftentimes still negatively influenced by outdated information. We’re creating a space that not only educates but also inspires confidence in going electric. Answering these questions onsite positively impacts the attendee experience and empowers them to feel ready about their decision to go electric.”

Debunking EV Charging Myths Through Practical Solutions
Many still associate EV charging with long hours at a wall outlet or the frustration of finding a public charger that works. Electrify Expo tackles these concerns directly, offering a space where attendees can explore real-world solutions.
Key highlights include learning the differences between Level 2 and Level 3 EV chargers, addressing infrastructure challenges, and discovering charging options that align with diverse driving habits.
As Miss GoElectric pointed out, misconceptions often stem from a lack of understanding, saying, “There needs to be a shift in mentality because I hear from people a lot that they feel like they can’t charge anywhere because they don’t see where the chargers are.”
She advocates normalizing charging during daily activities, such as grocery shopping or gym visits, to align with modern lifestyles.

Highlighting Home Charging and Industry Solutions
While the EV Charging Zone addresses public charging concerns, it also highlights the convenience of charging at home.
Terry Kidd, General Manager of Chatsworth Ford, noted, “Over 90% of my charging occurs at my house. I drive an EV, my wife drives an EV, and I have my own gas station at my house.”
This perspective shifts the narrative from scarcity to convenience, highlighting how most EV owners rely on home charging, eliminating many public charging anxieties.
At the same time, Electrify Expo offers a platform for brands to showcase innovative charging hardware and software solutions.
James Carter, Principal Consultant at Vision Mobility, acknowledged the need for improvement, stating, “Public charger reliability still needs improvement. Grid connections take a long time to come to fruition.”
By addressing these gaps, the festival provides attendees with a realistic view of the industry’s progress and challenges.

Expanding EV Charging Access for Homes and Communities
Charging at home may be convenient for many, but what happens when that isn’t an option? For those in multi-family housing, reliable public charging networks are essential.
Electrify Expo is shining a spotlight on this critical need, exploring how accessible infrastructure can bridge the gap for millions of potential EV owners.
Tom Bowen, President of QMerit, explained, “The majority of charging will still take place at home. We think that’s the best experience—80% of drivers will still be looking for a residential experience. But for multi-family dwellings, which don’t necessarily have the same access, these networks are critical.”
Bowen also mentioned the need for investment in both residential and public infrastructure, highlighting labor shortages and the growing importance of standards like the North American Charging Standard (NACS).
“Tesla had a head start clearly… but we see they’re bringing folks back. There’s still a huge commitment to the supercharger and network as well as their commercial level two network,” he said. The adoption of NACS is improving compatibility and access, further streamlining EV ownership for a wider audience.
Broader Impacts on EV Adoption
The future of electric mobility depends on breaking through doubt and misinformation. Electrify Expo’s new EV Charging Zone is leading this effort with offers hands-on education and practical solutions designed to inspire confidence and drive EV adoption.
Steve Kosowski, who leads Long Range Planning & Strategy at Kia, highlighted the importance of visibility and accessibility in encouraging adoption. “The State of Washington is a really interesting example of how to do it because that state is number two next to California in terms of EV penetration rate. But if you dig into it a little bit and you look at the number of cars per charger… there’s a lot of chargers, and that gives people lots of confidence,” he explained.
As Electrify Expo tours eight cities in 2025, it brings this mission to a national audience, proving that electrification relies as much on dispelling misconceptions as it does on advancing technology.
