In a heartwarming collaboration, Electrify Expo, the largest electric vehicle (EV) festival in North America, and Volvo Cars have teamed up to support Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), an American pediatric cancer nonprofit organization. Since 2005, ALSF has been instrumental in advancing research, aiding scientists, and supporting doctors, bringing us closer to a cure. With over $300 million raised, funding more than 1,500 research grants, their impact is profound. This June marks the 20th anniversary of “Lemonade Days,” and in partnership with Electrify Expo and Volvo Car USA, they’re uniting to provide financial support and raise awareness. Together, they’ll host a lemonade stand at the Electrify Expo Long Beach stop on June 1-2, and extend a warm welcome to local families affected by pediatric cancer, as selected by ALSF, for a day filled with joy and festivities.

This partnership holds deep meaning beyond just fundraising; it’s about spreading awareness and support for pediatric cancer research and treatment. Liz Scott, the Co-Executive Director of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and is also Alex’s mother, shared her heartfelt appreciation, saying: “We are so honored to be included in the Electrify Expo as part of our longstanding partnership with Volvo. We are grateful to them for using their platforms to raise awareness and much-needed funds for research into safer treatments and cures for children fighting cancer.”
The roots of ALSF trace back to the inspiring story of Alexandra “Alex” Scott, who, diagnosed with neuroblastoma at the tender age of one, initiated a movement by hosting her first lemonade stand at just four years old. Despite her passing at age eight, her legacy lives on, with Lemonade Days evolving into an annual event, raising over $20 million to date to support research and treatment for childhood cancer.
“Volvo Cars has been a believer in Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation since we pledged to help Alex reach her million-dollar goal over 20 years ago,” highlighted Mike Cottone, President of Volvo Car USA and Canada. “Since then, we’ve been donating a portion of proceeds from the sale of every Volvo car in the U.S. to ALSF.”

This partnership extends beyond financial contributions. Volvo Car USA will continue to host Lemonade Stands at each Electrify Expo throughout their 2024 season, further amplifying the impact of their collaboration with ALSF. Additionally, visitors can test-drive the EX30, C40 Recharge, and XC40 Recharge, and EX90, experiencing Volvo’s commitment to both innovation and philanthropy.
BJ Birtwell, CEO and founder of Electrify Expo, echoed the sentiment, stating, “We are proud to partner with Volvo to support such an important cause and help spread the word about Lemonade Days. We are all about creating fun experiences for the whole family as we travel around the country, and we are excited to be a place where families can come together, even when they are going through incredibly difficult times.”
The public is encouraged to show their support for ALSF through various channels, including purchasing Electrify Expo tickets, hosting lemonade stands, or making direct donations via the ALSF website.
