For too long, one of the biggest obstacles to widespread electric vehicle (EV) adoption has been the hassle of finding reliable, fast charging. Now, Toyota and Lexus owners in New York City are about to see that change.

Thanks to a strategic partnership between Toyota Motor North America and Revel, customers will enjoy complimentary access to Revel’s DC fast charging network across New York City for nearly three years, through October 14, 2027.

Revel, a Brooklyn-based company, currently operates the largest network of public fast charging stations in New York City, with four stations running 24/7 in key locations like Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. Offering both NACS and CCS plug types, Revel’s fast chargers are specifically designed for city areas, where speed and availability are crucial.

As Frank Reig, Revel’s co-founder and CEO, mentioned in the press release, “Revel is proud to build on our strategic collaboration with Toyota to accelerate urban EV adoption.” By making fast charging more convenient and, starting now, free, Toyota is addressing a critical barrier for people about buying an EV.

Building the infrastructure that will define the future of city transportation. Toyota Ventures, the company’s early-stage venture capital arm, has supported Revel since 2019, helping it quickly grow its DC fast charging network in New York City and beyond.

Revel currently has 64 fast charging stalls in operation and plans to expand that to 300 within the next year. This includes a large 60-stall station in Maspeth, Queens, and a 48-stall site near LaGuardia Airport. In a city where space is limited, this kind of expansion is truly impressive.

By offering free access to this large fast charging network, Toyota is making the ownership experience for its bZ4X and Lexus RZ customers. “Charging should be a seamless experience and is crucial for customer satisfaction,” said Christopher Yang, Group Vice President of Toyota EV Charging Solutions.

The significance of this partnership extends beyond New York. Revel is expanding its DC fast charging footprint to other major markets, including California, with plans for sites in the Bay Area and downtown Los Angeles. The integration of such high-speed, level 3 charging stations means more drivers can travel confidently, knowing that fast, reliable charging is available when and where they need it.

The EV market can only grow as fast as the charging infrastructure allows. That’s why this partnership between Toyota and Revel is so essential. It’s creating a system that feels intuitive and accessible for the average consumer.
