Kia is on fire! October was the best-ever sales month for Kia in America’s history, and there’s no denying the surge of interest in Kia’s electric vehicles (EVs), hybrids, and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models.

Kia’s lineup is resonating with consumers, and the numbers speak for themselves. Over 68,908 units sold in October alone! This success is a powerful indicator of shifting consumer preferences, with electric and hybrid options powering much of this growth.

As Eric Watson, Kia America’s Vice President of Sales Operations, states, “A number of Kia’s electrified models and SUVs realized double-digit sales increases, propelling Kia to our best October sales performance in company history.”

The demand for Kia’s electric vehicles, from the flagship EV9 SUV to the Sportage Plug-in Hybrid, is soaring. Sales of fully electric models jumped a remarkable 70% over last year, while plug-in hybrids rose 65% and hybrids grew by 49%. These numbers are proof that Kia’s commitment to greener choices is really connecting with people.

Kia EV9 Debuts Strong with 2,000 Units, EV6 Up 12%

Kia’s EV9 sold nearly 2,000 units in its debut in October. The EV6 saw a boost of over 12% from the previous year, with a total of 1,732 units sold in October alone. This model, known for its small crossover SUV design, is backed up with its impressive range and fast charging capabilities.

The Niro EV, Kia’s versatile electric compact SUV appeals to drivers looking for both efficiency and style. The Niro lineup, which includes hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions, continues to bring in high sales, highlighting Kia’s commitment to offering a variety of options for every type of driver.

Kia’s Electrified SUVs Drive 73% of Sales,

Kia’s SUVs are hitting the mark, now making up a huge 73% of their sales. Models like the Sportage Plug-in Hybrid, Sorento Plug-in Hybrid, and Telluride Hybrid are clearly speaking to families that want more space.

The Sportage alone set a new October record with 13,681 units sold, showing how much people love its mix of flexibility and fuel efficiency, whether they go for the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) or hybrid version.

Meanwhile, the Sorento saw its sales jump by 23%, as the plug-in hybrid option draws in those wanting a solid mix of power, comfortable ride quality, and massive rear cargo area.

Kia’s Telluride SUV, known for its power and performance in the Rebelle Rally, saw a solid 14% jump in October sales. Loved by drivers for its reliability and strength, the Telluride, especially in its hybrid version, continues to be a go-to choice in Kia’s lineup.

Meanwhile, the Carnival, Kia’s multi-purpose family vehicle (MPV), saw an impressive 40% sales boost as families embraced its roomy, comfortable design. With a hybrid version on the way, it’s easy to see why the Carnival is winning even more fans.

“Kia continues to appeal to a broad range of consumers,” Watson notes, “as we offer 10 compelling utility models many with a choice of all-electric, plug-in hybrid, hybrid, and ICE powertrains.”

Kia Pledges Over $4.5M in Aid, Disaster Relief, and Community Support

Beyond the impressive sales numbers, Kia America is showing it truly cares about the community. This October, Kia took action, donating $400,000 to help people affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton in the Southeastern U.S. They also launched a support program offering customers impacted by the storms up to $500 toward a new Kia vehicle. It’s all part of Kia’s commitment to standing by its community when they need it most.

Kia’s dedication goes further with its “Accelerate the Good” program, now in its third year. This initiative raised over $4.5 million in 2023 alone, benefiting charities focused on fighting childhood cancer, ending hunger, supporting military families, and protecting the environment.
