You might remember the bZ4X. Yes, that clunky alphanumeric soup. Toyota trimmed the name down to just “bZ.” The change is cleaner, more practical, and frankly, long overdue. But what really stands out this time are the upgrades. They’re real, and they’re impressive.
The new XLE Front-Wheel Drive Plus now goes up to 314 miles on a full charge. That’s a 25% jump from the previous model’s 252-mile range. You’ll get that range with the upgraded 74.7-kWh battery, also available on AWD XLE and Limited trims. And if you opt for the regular XLE FWD model with the 57.7-kWh battery, you’re still looking at 236 miles. Not bad, considering some competitors like the Nissan Ariya max out under 300.
Charging gets a serious upgrade with the 2026 Toyota bZ. This model adopts the North American Charging System (NACS), giving drivers access to Tesla’s Supercharger network, which includes thousands of high-speed charging stations across the United States.

Additionally, Toyota provides three years of roadside assistance at no extra cost. That means you will not be left stranded or scrambling to find a charging station in an emergency.
Other automakers are catching on to the importance of range, performance, and charging ease. Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 offers fast charging, sure, but its range lags behind Toyota’s 314-mile spec. Ford’s Mustang Mach-E has the muscle, but pricing continues to rise. And while Tesla’s Supercharger network is still king, Toyota’s NACS adoption means you can soon plug in right next to the Model Y, minus the Musk drama.
Toyota is offering a wide range of color combinations for the 2026 bZ, giving buyers flexibility in choosing their preferred look. The Wind Chill Pearl paint with a black roof is available exclusively on the Limited trim. The two-tone Supersonic Red paired with black overfenders is also limited to that same grade.
The XLE models still come with appealing choices such as Blueprint with black accents and a classic all-black exterior. Buyers should be aware that any color option marked with an asterisk will come with an added cost for premium paint.
So, what is the catch? Toyota has not yet announced the official pricing for the 2026 bZ. However, to stay competitive with other electric SUVs like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Tesla Model Y, and Ford Mustang Mach-E, the price will need to be carefully positioned. Additional details are expected closer to the vehicle’s arrival at dealerships in late 2025.
