  • Electric Power Systems has partnered with Regent Craft to integrate electric powertrain technology into some new electric seagliders.
  • The new seaglider design has already gotten $8 billion in orders from major airlines and ferry operators.
  • This joint approach will allow the craft to operate more quietly, protecting residential areas and wildlife habitats.

Electric Power Systems (EP Systems) and Regent Craft have joined forces in a new partnership that might help revolutionize the transportation industry. EP Systems, a leading global electric powertrain supplier for the aviation industry, will provide its cutting-edge power integration technology to Regent Craft in order to produce all-electric seagliders.

Regent Craft’s Seaglider

Dubbed Viceroy, the seaglider is already generating buzz with $8 billion in orders from major airlines and leading ferry operators across five continents. With its 12-passenger capacity, the Viceroy is expected to begin operations by the middle of this decade.

By utilizing EP Systems’ power integration technology, the seaglider will have the ability to travel up to 180 miles on a single charge, offering high-speed, zero-emission transportation along coastal routes.

This partnership allows for some very particular, very key aspects of the Viceroy. Because the seaglider will come equipped with EP System’s state-of-the-art power management system it should operate much more quietly than other electrified sea planes. Not only is this good for residential areas, but it’s also less damaging to wildlife habitats.

More About the Partnership Between EP Systems and Regent Craft

Regent’s CEO, Billy Thalheimer, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We are confident that EP Systems’ battery solution will help make the seaglider a true game-changer in the transportation industry.”

Thalheimer also praised EP Systems for its expertise in producing high-quality, efficient battery technology and the two brands’ shared commitment to safety.

EP Systems’ reputation in the transportation industry is well-established, with a customer portfolio that includes prestigious names such as NASA, Boeing, and the FAA. The company’s power integration solutions have already powered remarkable vehicles like Boeing’s CAV and Bell Helicopter’s hybrid Advanced Air Mobility aircraft. Nathan Millecam, CEO of EP Systems, expressed his excitement about the collaboration, stating, “Our technology will enable the seaglider to achieve greater efficiency, reliable paced operations, and a sustainable solution for this groundbreaking form of transportation.”
