Parent-company Honda may be dragging its feet in the EV game, but the new Acura Precision EV Concept shows it might be worth the wait!
The concept is inspired by “elegance and artistry,” according to the official copy – but that looks right, by the looks of it. There are no phony grilles or fake exhaust noises to ape the supposed virtues of internal combustion here, just straightforward, high-tech slickness. And the Acura has that in spades.
“The Acura Precision EV Concept is a look into our future direction and continues Acura’s Precision Crafted Performance design language with a modern expression of performance,” said Dave Marek, the brand’s executive creative director. “The Acura Precision EV Concept will be our North Star as we move into an exciting electrified future, and you will see these design cues translate over to future production models.”
Most impressive, stylistically, is the innovative lighting at the front of the SUV. Like Hyundai, Acura put some real thought into this SUV’s nose, which features a theatrical lighting approach that’s a dramatic, illuminated evolution of Acura’s signature grille that the company is calling, “Particle Glitch.” The emotional “Particle Glitch” design theme is repeated on the spokes of the Concept’s huge, 23″ wheels. (Those are insane, and won’t make it to production in that size.)
