GM’s CEO, Mary Barra, tweeted a shot of the upcoming 2024 Chevy Blazer EV SS … and it looks ready for prime time!
The new, fully electric Chevy Blazer EV SS wasn’t set to make its official debut until 2023, but GM CEO Mary Barra revealed it ahead of schedule in a tweet that shows a very nearly production ready crossover SUV that looks more than capable of taking the fight to the Ford Mustang Mach-E and market-dominating Tesla Model Y.
The implication seems to be that Chevy is eager to show the world that it’s gearing up to be an electric market leader, and it’s taking the competition seriously.
“All the Is are dotted and Ts are crossed for DOT approval, from headlights to tires to the amber side reflectors,” write Jalopnik’s Steve DaSilva. “While the odd cutout behind those reflectors still boggles the mind, its shape at least seems to serve a purpose— it surrounds the door that grants access to the (Chevy) Blazer EV SS’s charging port.”

I can’t wait until July 18, when we share the details with the world. pic.twitter.com/FIPE2SRVyg
… but, beyond that, details are scarce. The only thing that seems known, however, is that the new electric Blazer will be built on the same GM Ultium EV platform that underpins cars like the Cadillac LYRIQ, GMC Hummer, and Chevy Silverado EV. And, if it gets the same 664 horsepower as the Silverado EV, it should be quick enough to earn that “SS” badge and put the lightning-fast Mustang in its place.
Check out the official teaser video, below, then let us know what you think of this hot SUV’s prospects in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
