  • Pilot and Flying J travel centers feature locations open 24/7, including EVgo 350kW EV chargers.
  • Over 25 locations will offer 100 fast-charging stalls by the end of 2023; approximately 200 locations are targeted in 2024.
  • The network will decrease range anxiety, enabling nationwide EV travel.

Pilot Travel Centers LLC, General Motors, and EVgo Inc. announced the inauguration of the first 17 locations of their national electric vehicle fast-charging network. This innovative network offers an enhanced charging experience for electric vehicle drivers sprawling across 13 states.

“These new charging locations and the many more to come, will be critical for improving range confidence,” said Adam Wright, Pilot Travel Centers LLC chief executive officer.

A variety of amenities, products, and services are available 24/7 throughout the network. Each site features multiple fast charging stalls, with chargers capable of delivering up to 350kW. To ensure user comfort, charging stations are equipped with canopies for protection against the elements and pull-through charging stalls for EV towing.

The central location of the EVgo chargers in well-lit areas, monitored round-the-clock by onsite staff, ensures safety and security. Additionally, users have access to restrooms, food and beverage options, and free Wi-Fi. The network also supports Plug and Charge compatibility, further streamlining the charging experience.

Not only does this innovative network offer physical conveniences, but it also provides a seamless digital user experience. EV travelers can effortlessly locate available charging stations through various platforms, such as GM’s vehicle brand apps, the myRewards Plus app from Pilot, the EVgo app, PlugShare, and other specially designed applications for EV drivers.

GM and Pilot Company to Build Out Coast-to-Coast EV Fast Charging Network

Starting in Spring 2024, GM and Pilot Travel Centers LLC will roll out unique benefits exclusive to GM drivers. These benefits include the option to reserve a charger, along with discounts on charging expenses. Furthermore, the myRewards Plus app offers all EV travelers regular deals at Pilot and Flying J locations.

By the end of 2023, it is anticipated that at least 25 Pilot and Flying J travel centers will be equipped with EVgo EV fast charging capabilities. The ambition scales up with about 200 such locations envisioned by the end of 2024. In its entirety, the innovative network plans to install up to 2,000 high-power, fast-charging EVgo stalls distributed across 500 Pilot and Flying J travel centers nationwide.
