Yadea has launched their new flagship scooter on crowdfunding website Indiegogo. The company makes everything electric with two wheels, from kick scooters like the ElitePrime up to a full electric motorcycle. The campaign wanted to raise $5000 to start production, and so far they’ve raised over $206,000, which shows the enthusiasm over this scooter already.
The new ElitePrime sports more than double the power of their previous top model, the KS5 pro. The new scooter has a 1500W motor, with a top speed of 18.6 mph. It has a claimed range of up to 40 miles.
They call it the electric SUV of scooters, because it has 6.1” of ground clearance, and a unique front and rear suspension system. In their introduction video, they show a rider jumping down a set of 3 steps and the suspension actuating. The relatively large 10” tires are said to be self-healing, not a bad idea in urban environments with all things that can poke into your tires on the streets. The front wheel has a drum brake, and the rear has a mechanical disc brake.
Yadea claims it can climb a 30% grade hill, thanks to the powerful rear hub motor. It’s IPX5-rated, meaning you don’t have to worry if you take it through puddles in the rain. They also show it doing some light off-roading on an unpaved path. Maximum rider weight is 265 lbs.
There’s an app for Android and iOS to enhance and expand rider controls. Front light looks very bright, and the rear light is shaped like the company’s logo.
