It was the first all hands, high-tech commercial truck show since the pandemic began, and one thing is clear: nobody wants to “go back to normal.”
All the major players in the commercial trucking space are on-hand in Long Beach, California, this week as part of the 2022 ACT Expo. And every. Single. Booth. was packed with electric trucks … but, while some were the real deal, others seemed like empty promises.
We’ll cover some specifics over the next few posts– but, for now, we’d like to draw your attention to this: the biggest, baddest all-electric, hydrogen-charged racing truck you have ever seen. And, despite what you’re about to see, below, trust us: the pictures don’t do it justice!
Gaussin Hydrogen Dakar Race Truck
Built by French truck manufacturer, Gaussin, this Dakar rally racer has a fully electric powertrain that’s kept constantly charged by its on-board hydrogen fuel-cell generator. Parked outside just steps away from the same roads that recently hosted the IndyCar Grand Prix of Long Beach, it was definitely a sight to behold!
Other notable attractions were the biggest forklift you’ve ever seen (electric too, of course), along with over-the-road semis, drayage trucks, box trucks, trackhoes, and more. Even better: our own Jo Borras (the host of the Electrify News podcast) was on-hand to experience them all.
Here’s a quick taste of what’s in store on Electrify News this coming week– stay tuned for even more big electric truck news to come!
