Stromer Upgrades ST2 Gearset

Stromer ST2 Pinion

Swiss e-bike manufacturer Stromer has released an upgraded version of its ST2 commuter e-bike. The new Stromer ST2 Pinion includes, yes, a Pinion gearbox for more flexible riding options, as well as high-volume Pirelli tires, an updated hub motor, and an optional suspension fork and suspension seat.

The ST2 Pinion city bike comes with a 750 W Cyro Drive 3 rear-hub motor for 40 Nm (29.5 lb ft) of torque and pedal-assist up to 45 km/h (28 mph) – this makes it a Class 3 e-bike here in the U.S. and an L1e-B moped over in the E.U. It still has the low-maintenance Gates Carbon Belt Drive from the older ST2, but the Pinion gearbox also allows you to change gears even when you’re stationary.

The battery is also the same – a removable 655 Wh unit that can take you up to 120 km (74.5 miles) per charge. You do get the option to upgrade to a 814 Wh battery that’ll go for 150 km (93 miles) or even a 983 Wh battery for up to 180 km (just under 112 miles).

With the adjustable handlebar stem, you can fine-tune your riding stance for optimal comfort and control. The Pinion edition boasts 27.5-inch spoked rims, riding on Pirelli Angel GT Urban high-volume tires, ensuring maximum grip on any terrain and in any weather conditions. The brakes are dual-piston Stromer HD922 disc brakes, developed by Tektro and featuring 203-mm rotors. Then there’s also the suspension fork and spongy suspension seat.

The bike’s aluminum frame features a seamless aesthetic with a display built into the top bar for quick status checks. Or, you can mount your smartphone mid-handlebar to run the OMNI companion app. The OMNI platform lets you tweak motor parameters and also access ride metrics and history, keyless activation, and over-the-air updates. Additional features include an integrated daylight-running dual-beam headlight and rear strip light, a cooked-in SIM for mobile connectivity, full fenders, a rear-view mirror, and a rear cargo rack that can haul up to 22.5 kg (50 lbs) of gear.

The bike is available starting in April at $6,990, only in the green colorway. Come June, we’ll see the new Stromer ST2 Pinion with light or dark gray colorways. You can configure the bike right in Stromer’s online portal to fit your needs.
