  • The ABB E-mobility Terra 184 charger can deliver 180 kW of current.
  • This site is one of a planned 200 for Circle K’s North American customer base.

Convenience and mobility just took a greener turn as Circle K, the major gas station chain, unveiled its latest EV charging site in Wytheville, Virginia. Positioned conveniently along Interstate 81 at State Highway 121, this groundbreaking site is the first to be equipped with ABB E-mobility’s cutting-edge Terra 184 DC fast chargers. With a power output of up to 180 kW, these chargers mean business when it comes to charging your electric ride.

All-in-One Charging

The Terra 184 from ABB E-mobility, built here in the U.S., is meant to be an “all in one” EV charger. As the first to roll off the production line at the company’s South Carolina manufacturing operations, these chargers are ENERGY STAR certified and comply with the Federal Highway Administration’s  Buy America Act regulations. They also fit National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) charging sites.

The goal is to have the Wytheville Circle K EV charging site be more than just a pit stop for electric car owners. With this expansion, the fast charging footprint in Wytheville has grown by over 20%, demonstrating the joint commitment of Circle K and ABB E-mobility to bring reliable charging infrastructure to communities of all sizes across the United States. It’s a big step forward in electrifying the iconic I-77/81 corridor and providing charging options for drivers in Southwestern Virginia and beyond.

Circle K is Charging the American Road

Circle K plans to introduce 200 EV charging sites across North America by 2024, and Wytheville is just the beginning here on this continent. Circle K is already an EV charging leader in Europe with over 1,400 fast chargers at 300 locations in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.

“With demonstrated experience in EV charging in our European markets and a coast-to-coast network of well-located stores here in the U.S., we are well positioned to participate in the accelerated growth of EV charging infrastructure across the country and meet the evolving needs of our customers,” said Snorre Skeie, Director of E-Mobility, North America, for Circle K.
