Ensuring Precision and Trust: TÜV Rheinland’s Segway-Ninebot eKickScooters Certification
TÜV Rheinland has a remarkable legacy of over 150 years, dedicated to providing safe and sustainable solutions that bridge the gap between humans, the environment, and technology. Their recent focus on the rapidly growing eKickscooter market stems from a critical observation. Many electric scooter products in this emerging category have displayed discrepancies between their officially declared range and their real-world endurance mileage, impacting the user experience. To address this issue, TÜV Rheinland introduced the “Range at Max. Speed” Quality-mark and China-mark services.
In the words of Jay Yang, Vice President of TÜV Rheinland Greater China Electrical, “The market urgently needs standardization and guidance for inspection, testing, and certification methods. With the help of TÜV Rheinland’s Quality-mark and China-mark, we hope that companies can continuously improve their product performance, technological innovation capabilities, and brand reputation, both internationally and in China.”
Meeting Stringent Safety and Performance Standards
To ensure the accuracy of their assessments, TÜV Rheinland applied rigorous standards such as EN 17128:2020 for personal light electric vehicles, UL 2272 for safety electrical systems in personal e-mobility devices, and EN 60335-1 for electrical appliances used in households. Through focused inspections encompassing electrical safety, structural safety, and tire characteristics, TÜV Rheinland confirmed that the actual rideable distances at the maximum speed of Segway-Ninebot’s KickScooters align with their officially declared ranges.

The Quality-mark certification, initiated by TÜV Rheinland, signifies a voluntary certification service for high-quality products. It adheres to stringent domestic and international standards, affirming a product’s excellence in safety, quality, and performance. On the other hand, the China-mark, also introduced by TÜV Rheinland, is tailored for the Chinese market. It encompasses technical equipment, industrial products, and consumer goods, emphasizing safety, quality, performance, and factors directly influencing product quality and consumer safety.
TÜV Rheinland, a globally esteemed technology services provider, brings over 20 years of expertise in consumer electronics and household appliances. Their innovative standard certification services have garnered widespread industry recognition. Leveraging their expertise, TÜV Rheinland is committed to guiding the industry towards adapting to market trends, enhancing product quality and performance, and offering consumers invaluable guidance to select safe and high-quality products.
