Hyundai Motor Group Dominate February Sales, Setting New Records

Hyundai Motor Group, which includes Hyundai and Kia, have collectively achieved impressive sales milestones in February 2024. Hyundai Motor America reported record-breaking total sales of 60,341 units, marking a 6% increase compared to February 2023. Meanwhile, Kia America closed the month with sales of 59,059 units, showcasing a robust performance across its lineup. Together, these achievements underscore the companies’ commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction in the competitive automotive market.

Hyundai Motor America has once again left its mark on the industry with record-breaking total sales for February 2024. The company reported a staggering 60,341 units sold, marking a notable 6% increase compared to the same period last year.


A Closer Look at Segment Growth

A closer look at the numbers reveals Hyundai’s stunning performance across various segments. Sales of the popular Tucson surged by 8%, while the Tucson PHEV and Tucson HEV experienced unprecedented growth rates of 280% and 29%, respectively. The Palisade and Kona EV also contributed to the milestone, boasting sales increases of 16% and 15%, respectively. Randy Parker, CEO of Hyundai Motor America, expressed his pride in the company’s accomplishments, stating:

“Hyundai’s sales of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids are steadily rising, with significant year-over-year growth. We take pride in the recognition our EV and plug-in hybrid models have received and remain committed to providing our customers with a diverse range of products.”

Hyundai’s commitment to eco-friendly vehicles is evident in the 7% increase in sales within this category. Fleet volume also saw a substantial rise, climbing by 8.3%. Particularly, Hyundai achieved record-breaking retail sales of 55,341 units, marking a 5% increase year-over-year.

In addition to its impressive sales figures, Hyundai has received praise for its commitment to safety and innovation. The company recently earned the prestigious 2024 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK and TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards, underscoring its dedication to vehicle safety. With seven Hyundai vehicles recognized by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, Hyundai has once again asserted its leadership in safety standards within the industry.

Hyundai’s IONIQ 5 N has been named among the top three finalists for the 2024 World Performance Car, highlighting its exceptional performance and design. Meanwhile, the IONIQ 6 has received numerous accolades, including being crowned the MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice Award for Best Electric Vehicle.

In addition to its stellar sales performance, Kia America has received widespread recognition for its commitment to excellence and innovation. The 2024 Kia EV9 has been named one of the top three finalists for the World Car Awards 2024 in two categories, highlighting its exceptional design and performance. Furthermore, the 2024 Kia EV9 received the MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice “Best EV” award for 2024, further solidifying its position as a leader in the electric vehicle segment.

In February, Kia continued to impress with their diverse vehicle offerings, contributing to a total of 59,059 units sold. Especially, Kia’s EV9 and EV6 showcased exceptional performance, with the EV9 selling 1,318 units and the EV6 moving 1,309 units. Additionally, the Kia Sportage emerged as a standout performer with strong sales of 12,081 units. These models, along with others in the lineup, contributed to a resilient performance despite minor fluctuations compared to the previous year. Both Hyundai and Kia demonstrate their ability to adapt and excel in the competitive automotive market.
