Italian motorcycle brand Energica creates an all-new segment with the long-range, all electric Experia “green tourer.”
Energica established itself in the motorcycle world with a bevy of top-shelf sport bikes with speed and handling that could challenge even the most talented riders, and that— oh, yeah!— just happened to be electric. As a follow-up act, the company is expanding into the red-hot Adventure Tour segment currently populated with bikes like the Honda Africa Twin and Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250, and their just-revealed Experia “green tourer” is expected to make a big splash!
The new bike pairs the longest standard range of any electric motorcycle— 261 miles— with DC fast charging capability to ensure that its 22.5 kWh battery fills up fast. That, along with a comfortable, upright riding position should make long-haul days easy enough to handle.
That upright riding position, by the way, is made possible by an all-new frame and suspension. That’s because the Experia is a clean-sheet design for Energica, as opposed to an adventure-y rebody of an existing street bike chassis (which you’ll find elsewhere in this space). And, while that means it’s not as fast or nimble as the Ego sport bike, the ability to stretch your legs a bit on your way to an electronically-governed top speed of 112 mph should be a happy enough tradeoff for most touring riders.
Energica will open the order books on its new “Green Tourer” June 1st, with deliveries slated to begin just a few months later. You can check out a few more pictures of the bike, below, then let us know what you think of this Italian highway warrior in the comments section at the bottom of the page. Enjoy!

Will this be made available in South Africa?
No idea. That wasn’t in the press release.
