Mercedes-Benz is heating up the red-hot “van life” trend with a new, all-electric, Marco Polo Edition of the EQT electric van!
Earlier this year, the brand revealed its EQV camper van, and now it has the all-new Concept EQT Marco Polo, a pop-up mini-camper. This will be the first electric and first compact van in the Marco Polo camper van lineup from Mercedes-Benz.
It can seat and sleep up to four people, has a full pop-out dining “lounge,” kitchenette with a sink, slide-out induction cooktop, and small fridge box. There’s also a single-burner stove that’s on its own exterior slide-out so you can use it as an outdoor tailgate cooking option. The portable battery pack for running electrical equipment can be removed from under the seat and can be charged using a roof-mounted solar panel or an electrical outlet inside the van.
When the pop-up sleeper roof is back in place while you’re driving around, this mini-camper stands lower than 2 meters (6.5 feet), which still allows for parking garage access.
The Marco Polo concept reveal was part of a larger announcement for the production EQT van, which will have a 90 kWh front-axle motor and 45 kWh battery pack. Mercedes says it should have a range of around 175 miles, with drivers being able to charge the battery from 10% to 80% in 38 minutes using a DC fast charger.
In the meantime, if you don’t need a full pop-up roof or quite so large a van, Mercedes will also offer the EQT Marco Polo Module. It will be a fully removable camper-in-a-box kit with a fold-out bed and available tailgate kitchen. We don’t know prices yet, but the Marco Polo Module should be available for orders soon.
