Irmscher Tunes the VW ID. Buzz

Irmscher has already dared with the Volkswagen ID. Buzz and turns it into a camper van with a sports suit

It hardly seems fair – months before the VW ID. Buzz arrives in the US, and the German tuning legends Irmscher have already built one!

American audiences still have to wait until 2024 to get their hands on a Volkswagen ID. Buzz, but it has already become such a hit in the European market that German specialist Irmscher has tuned it and jazzed it up.

The ID. Buzz is already inspired by the old VW Type II (“Bus”), built for hauling people and things (instruments, surfboards – you name it). Irmscher turned the ID. Buzz into a full-on camper van with what it’s dubbed the i-Box kit. The kit is similar to VW’s own BusBox camper kit, but better materials and a unique design that includes a rear bench that extends out into a bed help set it apart. There’s a large drawer that unfolds from the rear, with a small sink, a gas stove with two burners, and a cooler, all of which Irmscher says can be assembled or disassembled in about 10 minutes.

That’s inside. Outside, the Irmscher touch also includes a snazzy body kit, adding a new roof spoiler, 19- or 20-inch wheels, and a two-tone white and gray paint job with orange accents around the car and mirrors.

The wheels themselves cost €2,250 (about the same in USD, as this is being published), while Irmscher’s composite body kit goes for €3,450 (again, about the same). So, for about €5,700 (less the cost of paint and installation), European enthusiasts can get this funky specialized iteration of the VW ID. Buzz long before the US can even see a base version!
