Chevy Silverado EV Hammers GM Test Track

Watch Chevrolet Silverado EV Engineering Truck On GM's Test Tracks

GM CEO Mary Barra has been making a habit of showing off new Chevrolet products before their official reveal — and we couldn’t be happier!

It wasn’t that long ago that Barra first revealed what looked like a nearly production-ready version of the upcoming Chevy Blazer SS EV. And, while we’ve had a chance to see what the upcoming Chevy Silverado EV would look like before (as well as some of the new tricks it has up its sleeve), the CEO’s latest tweet aims to show that there’s plenty of “go” under the upcoming Ford F-150 Lightning-fighter.

The tweet comes on the heels of a GM survey of existing Silverado reservation holders, which revealed that some that some 95 percent of the future owners plan to use the electric pickup as their “daily driver”, replacing an internal combustion truck in the process.

InsideEVs is reporting that, “respondents also told GM that they’re hoping for a fully electric vehicle that can tow, haul, and hit the off-road trails. Some 87 percent shared that the top reason they decided to reserve a Silverado EV is thanks to its towing capability, while 72 percent cited the truck’s off-road prowess.”

That’s pretty bold, considering no one (outside of GM engineers, anyway) has ever towed anything with a Silverado EV, let alone taken it off road.

You can let us know what you think of the survey’s results in the comments section at the bottom of the page. On your way there, be sure to check out this B-roll footage of the upcoming Silverado EV tearing it up at GM’s Milford Proving Grounds last week. Enjoy!
