The collaboration between Mobility in Harmony (MIH) Consortium, a Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn) initiative, and BlackBerry marks a significant milestone in the evolution of next-generation electric vehicles (EVs). Leveraging BlackBerry IVY’s cutting-edge technology, the MIH platform initiative will revolutionize the digital cockpit experience. Real-time monitoring will enable operators to manage their fleet efficiently, while drivers can benefit from intuitive insights into vehicle health.

The MIH platform took center stage at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES).


MIH Platform Features

Vehicle Health Monitoring: This feature ensures each vehicle operates at peak condition, utilizing advanced diagnostics to predict, detect, and notify of any maintenance needs, thereby enhancing vehicle longevity and reliability.

Range/SOC (State of Charge)/SOH (State of Health) Estimation: This function provides drivers and fleet operators with accurate battery and range information, enabling better routing optimization and energy management.

Driver Scoring: This evaluation tool assesses driving behaviors and patterns with the goal of promoting safer driving habits.

Vehicle Security Analysis: This feature employs advanced cybersecurity measures to evaluate vehicle cybersecurity strength, warding off potential threats and ensuring the unassailable integrity of vehicle operations.

In 2020, the global leader in smart manufacturing, Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn), introduced the MIH platform, an open software and hardware platform for EVs. Foxconn’s prime objective is to establish MIH as the “Android system of the EV industry.” The consortium’s mission is to lower the entry barriers into the EV industry, speed up innovation, and reduce development cycles by actualizing key technologies and developing reference designs and standards. At present, the MIH Consortium boasts over 2,700 members, illustrating its growing influence and widespread acceptance in the EV industry.

Leading the way in intelligent security software and services, BlackBerry serves a global clientele of enterprises and governments. With security as its cornerstone, BlackBerry ensures the safekeeping of over 500 million endpoints. Notably, this includes over 235 million vehicles. The MIH Platform partnership is one of the company’s latest ventures.
