With 585 HP and the ability to out-pull a bevy of supercars from a dig, can the Kia EV6 get any better? Apparently, it can!
The Kia EV6 was already a brisk EV from the South Korean manufacturer, but now the EV6 GT sports variant has stepped up as the fastest production Kia of all time, even beating out Kia’s own RWD, BMW-baiting Stinger.
The EV6 GT comes in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, but it’s the AWD version that’s getting the hype here. It’s capable of generating 577 hp and 740 Nm (545.8 lb-ft) of torque, with the ability to go from 0-60 in a blistering 3.5 seconds. It also has a top speed of 161.56 mph.
In addition, this Kia EV has an impressive 263-mile driving range on a single charge, and the 800 V ultra-fast charging tech allows it to be charged from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes.
But besides the fact that the EV6 GT can beat an Audi RS3 in a drag race, this newest reveal brings it all to ludicrously fun levels: It has an unofficial “drift mode.”
Sure, this car has the regular Eco, Normal, and Sport toggle functions, but there’s a GT Mode switch on the opposite side of the steering wheel. This is the mode that unleashes all 577 hp, and it gives an overall sharper response when driving. Also, here is where the driver can use the power oversteer to create those beautiful clouds of tire smoke. Granted, Kia executives are aware that this drifting ability isn’t a function that a ton of owners will probably make regular use of, but it’s dang cool anyways.
The EV6 GT is set to release later this year, though prospective customers can make reservations now. The starting MSRP for the RWD version is $51,700, and the AWD will start at $56,400.
