Swedish company Cake recently released an e-bike and cargo trailer concept that packs enough power for 200 miles of riding!
The Cake Äik is available in two versions, depending on where you live. In the U.S., it comes with a throttle and a powerful 500 W motor (with a peak of 1000 W) that can reach speeds of up to 20 mph. However, in Europe, it’s pedal-assist only and has a 250 W motor (500 W peak) with a top speed of just 16 mph.
The Äik is marketed as a utility e-bike, rather than a commuter bike, for people who like their rides a bit more rugged. It’s a heavy duty machine, weighing in at 66 lbs, but it can carry an impressive 176 lbs of cargo, including 132 lbs on the back and 44 lbs up front. The modular aluminum frame can also be fitted with a variety of racks, bags, trailers, baskets, and even a passenger seat.

Another cool feature of the Äik is that it can be configured with up to three lockable 750 Wh batteries for a possible range of up to 224 miles. And you can even dedicate one of the extra batteries to use as a power bank for your portable laptop or even a whole fridge.
The Äik is part of Cake’s larger “work” series, which means it’s fitted with a telematics unit with GPS, Bluetooth, and GSM that’s compatible with the Cake App and Cake Fleet Management App.
The e-bike is available for pre-order now and is expected to start shipping in May. Prices start at $6,470 / €6,470.
