Toyo Tires® introduces the Open Country® A/T III EV, an innovative, EV all-terrain tire for replacement purposes. Mindfully crafted in the U.S.A., this on-/off-road EV all-terrain tire has been engineered with the unique requirements of electric powered vehicles in mind. This includes instant torque, rapid acceleration, additional weight, and range efficiency.

Building on the remarkable performance of the original Open Country A/T III, this new EV all-terrain tire offers impressive off-road capabilities, along with reliable on-road handling and ride comfort. Its advanced design has earned it a severe snow service traction rating, and it proudly wears the Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake symbol, ensuring driver confidence in all weather conditions.

The Open Country A/T III EV provides a significant upgrade for your EV’s off-road and all-weather capability, all while enhancing its rugged appearance and efficiency. This is more than just an EV all-terrain tire; it’s your partner for every journey.

The Open Country A/T III EV boasts a multitude of efficiency-focused features and benefits. One of the key elements is the innovative AeroWing™ sidewall, an aerodynamic feature that significantly reduces wind drag. The design also includes a smooth sidewall adorned with high-contrast lettering, contributing to the tire’s stylish appearance. Moreover, the chamfered shoulder blocks enhance this aerodynamic efficiency while maintaining the rugged all-terrain performance and appearance that consumers covet.

The tire’s optimized tread pattern is another noteworthy feature. Designed for reduced rolling resistance, it contributes to improved range efficiency – an essential aspect for electric vehicles. An advanced tread compound ensures durability and long tread life, providing drivers with confidence in the tire’s longevity. In essence, the Open Country A/T III EV is a tire that truly marries efficiency with performance, offering EV drivers an exceptional all-terrain, all-weather solution.

“At Toyo Tires, we are enthusiasts, heavily involved in the off-road and overlanding communities across the country. We listen to our customers and continually strive to develop solutions to match their desires and make tires people love. At the onset of this development, our goal was to support EV truck and SUV customers with a bespoke version of the Open Country A/T III, retaining the performance and appearance that our customers love, with innovative features added to maintain a high level of efficiency.” stated Todd Bergeson, Senior Manager of Product Planning & Technical Services at Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. “This state-of-the-art EV-specific all-terrain replacement tire for trucks and SUVs was designed, developed, and tested at our R&D facility in White, GA, USA. Each tire in our Open Country product family is designed to fit a specific application and we are proud to fulfill this need for our EV consumers.”

The Open Country A/T III EV will be produced in a plethora of unique sizes and high-load combinations, suitable for wheel diameters ranging from 18 to 24 inches. The initial offering in LT size, LT275/60R20, will hit the market in February 2024, serving as an LT-metric upgrade for the Ford F-150 Lightning. An assortment of other OE and plus sizes of LT- and P/Euro-metric fitments are underway, with plans to launch later in 2024. These will accommodate the most popular EV trucks and SUVs on the road today, such as the Rivian R1T/R1S and GMC Hummer EV. Moreover, these will be designed in anticipation of future rollouts like the Tesla Cybertruck and Chevrolet/GMC EVs. Toyo Tires aims to keep pace with the evolving EV segment, committing to introduce additional sizes as new vehicles become available.
