Since its inception in 2019, Canada’s EV incentive program has gained immense popularity, offering substantial discounts to buyers opting for clean energy vehicles. Ottawa’s iZEV program is a good example. It offers rebates of up to $5,000 for Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs). This rebate applies if the vehicle costs less than $55,000 for sedans and $65,000 for SUVs, minivans, and pickups.

In the first quarter of this year, Tesla led the rebate program with over 15,600 claims, highlighting its dominant position. Hyundai followed with over 7,600 claims, while Toyota had over 7,400, Ford had over 6,000, and Kia had over 4,700, according to Transport Canada data.

Canada’s EV incentives encourage adoption without focusing on where vehicles are made, unlike the U.S., which is shifting towards stricter manufacturing rules to boost domestic production.

The 2024 Tesla Model 3, codenamed Highland, is captivating Canadian car buyers with its affordability and advanced technology. For those considering the new Tesla Model 3, its competitive pricing and advanced features make it a compelling choice under Canada’s iZEV rebate program.
