The Ram ProMaster EV, the brand’s first all-electric vehicle, made its US debut amidst an industry-wide shift towards electric vehicles (EVs).
This launch aligns with the Dare Forward 2030 strategy outlined by parent company Stellantis, which sets an ambitious target of 100% EV sales in the EU and 50% in the US by 2030.
Stellantis’ lineup features popular brands, including Jeep, Ram, Chrysler, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Dodge, and Maserati. Ram, known for offering the “best value proposition” and lowest total cost of ownership across its lineup, expects the ProMaster EV to carry on this trend in the EV market.
The Ram ProMaster EV will be available in a delivery model and a cargo model. Ram’s delivery model EV is available now, while the cargo version will be available soon.
The cargo van comes in two versions, including a 12′ cargo length and an extended 13′ option.
The forthcoming Ram’s ProMaster EV cargo van sports impressive specs, including a payload of up to 3,020 lbs. The delivery version, on the other hand, offers a payload of 2,030 lbs. Equipped with a sturdy 200 kW Electric Drive Module (EDM), the van produces a commendable 268 horsepower and a torque of 302 lb-ft.
The van houses a standard 110 kWh battery pack, ensuring a targeted range of up to 162 miles on city roads. The electric van is based on Ram’s reliable ProMaster platform. However, it distinguishes itself with a unibody design specifically tailored for electrification.
The Ram ProMaster EV offers the innovative One Pedal Driving Mode. This efficient system utilizes a regenerative braking mechanism that kicks in as the van slows down, cleverly harnessing kinetic energy to recharge the battery. The EV offers a heating system for the seats, steering wheel, and windshield. This feature, standard on Delivery Van models, ensures a comfortably warm vehicle before you even step in.
The Ram ProMaster EV cargo van will offer stiff competition to the Ford e-Transit Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo and other EV cargo vans.
