Lucid Air Grand Touring Smashes EV Range Record with 1,205 km Guinness Title

The Lucid Air Grand Touring conducted a record-breaking journey of 1,205 kilometers (~749 miles) between St. Moritz, Switzerland and Munich, Germany, including alpine roads, highways, and secondary roads. Lucid exceeded the previous record for the longest journey of 1,045 kilometers set in June 2025 by 160 kilometers.
  • Lucid Air Grand Touring traveled 1,205 km from St. Moritz to Munich on one charge, surpassing the prior EV record (1,045 km) by 160 km.
  • Its energy consumption averages just 13.5 kWh/100 km (WLTP), feeding an 112 kWh pack, showing ultra-high efficiency.
  • The Air supports ultra‑fast DC charging: 400 km of range in merely 16 minutes.

What if I told you an electric car just cruised from the Swiss Alps to Munich, with no stops, no plugs, nothing at all, for 1,205 km (749 miles)? Seriously.

The Lucid Air Grand Touring earned a new Guinness World Records title for the longest distance driven by an electric car on a single charge, surpassing the previous record from June 2025 by 160 kilometers (100 miles). The drive included alpine curves, high-speed autobahns, and rolling secondary roads, all completed on one fully charged battery.

“This range record represents a significant milestone – it’s yet another clear demonstration of the technological edge that defines Lucid,” mentions Eric Bach, Senior Vice President of Product and Chief Engineer at Lucid. “Our Lucid products combine world class vehicle efficiency with the most advanced drive units, ultra-high voltage architecture, and battery management technology available today, which lets a Lucid travel further with less energy than any other vehicles.”

Let’s unpack that. The Lucid Air Grand Touring is equipped with a powerful dual-motor system that delivers 831 PS (819.5 hp) and reaches a top speed of 270 kilometers per hour (168 miles per hour). Its WLTP-rated range extends up to 960 kilometers (596.5 miles), while consuming just 13.5 kilowatt-hours of electricity per 100 kilometers (62 miles). This level of efficiency allows the vehicle to travel long distances while using far less energy than most other electric vehicles.

Also, its 112 kWh battery can absorb up to 400 km (248.5 mi) of range in just 16 minutes of DC fast charging. That’s the kind of pace you’d expect from a high-end gasoline refuel. It flips the whole “EVs are slow to charge” narrative.

Behind the wheel were Umit Sabanci and team, who had already earned a Guinness record in 2024 for visiting nine countries on a single charge in the same model. Sabanci said, “When I completed the nine‑country journey in 2024, it was just the beginning. This new achievement takes that journey even further. I’m proud to be part of a movement that proves electric mobility isn’t just the future; it’s already redefining what’s possible today.”

Lucid’s achievement surpassed previous runs completed by other electric vehicles. The Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+ reached 1,045 kilometers (649.3 miles), and the Ford Mustang Mach-E managed approximately 950 kilometers (590 miles). Lucid’s distance of 1,205 kilometers (748.6 miles) drew strong reactions from industry observers, with some describing it as “crushing” the earlier records.

Tom’s Guide recently tested the Air Touring trim and reported an efficiency of 4 miles per kWh, top of its class, curbing EV anxiety. Meanwhile, Lucid’s SUV, the Gravity, posts an EPA‑rated 450 miles, proof this is not a one‑off for the brand.

So what makes this record run so impressive? The Lucid Air Grand Touring combines ultra-high-voltage battery architecture, precise battery thermal control, a highly aerodynamic design with a drag coefficient of 0.21, and software-optimized electric motors.

Together, these elements produce energy efficiency that performs reliably in real-world conditions, not just in laboratory settings.

This achievement challenges common assumptions about electric vehicle range and brings attention to the need for expanded charging infrastructure. As Umit Sabanci put it, electric mobility is no longer a concept for the future. It is already capable of crossing international borders on a single charge.
