Kia Highlights Impressive December 2023 Sales of EV6 and EV9

SUV and utility lineup enjoyed a 16% growth in 2023 sales for Kia, accounting for 72% of sales total.
Kia’s electrified lineup, including the Kia EV9, grew 41% in sales.
The total U.S. volume of 782,451 surpasses Kia’s yearly 2021 sales record by 12%.

Kia America achieved its highest-ever fourth-quarter sales, with a robust figure of 60,275 units sold in December. In 2023, Kia’s total sales soared to 782,451 units, marking a 13-percent increase from the previous year and surpassing the prior record set in 2021 by 12 percent. An unprecedented total of 725,817 units were sold in 2023.

Six Kia models set all-time annual sales records in 2023. These included Carnival, which saw a tremendous growth of 93 percent; Niro, with an increase of 26 percent; Seltos, improving by 17 percent; Sportage, up by 12 percent; Telluride, with an 11 percent boost; and Forte, up 7 percent.

Kia achieved notable electric vehicle (EV) sales, totaling 2,362 units. This figure comprises 1,249 units of the EV6, indicating a 13% increase compared to the previous year. Additionally, the newly introduced EV9 made an impressive debut with 1,113 units sold. While the specific number of Kia Niro EVs remains undisclosed, it typically averages around a thousand units monthly, though the precise data is not yet available as it’s combined with the internal combustion engine (ICE) version.

Kia’s electrified model sales increased by 41 percent. SUV sales saw a 16-percent surge over the segments’ previous records. SUVs accounted for a whopping 72 percent of the 2023 annual sales total for Kia.

Kia Center

The home ground of the National Basketball Association’s Orlando Magic has been renamed the Kia Center. This partnership involves the installation of EV charging stations, Kia vehicle displays, and the unveiling of the Kia Terrace.

Awards

The all-electric 2024 Kia EV9 was honored in Popular Science’s “2023 Best of What’s New” awards. This marks the first time a Kia vehicle has made its way into Popular Science’s annual rankings of “Greatest Innovations.”

The 2024 Kia EV9 and the 2024 Telluride have been included in Car and Driver’s 2024 10Best Trucks and SUVs. Telluride has won this award for the fifth consecutive year. The EV9 celebrates this award in its first year on sale.

The 2024 Kia EV9 and the 2024 Telluride made the 2024 Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards list. The EV9 was recognized as the “Best 3-Row Electric Vehicle.” The Telluride won the “Best Midsize SUV” segment for 2024.

The Kia Telluride was named a segment winner by the J.D. Power 2024 U.S. ALG Residual Value Awards in the “Midsize SUVs with 3-Row Seating” category.

The 2024 Kia Sportage was awarded the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) 2023 Top Safety Pick+ (TSP+) rating.

The EV6, Telluride, and Soul models were included among the 2024 Consumer Guide Automotive Best Buy awards. The Telluride was named a 2024 Best Buy in the midsize crossover category.
