How much is too much for an electric SUV? That question is front and center as Volkswagen releases pricing for the 2025 ID.4, bringing updates, added features, and a slightly higher cost. Meanwhile, the 2024 ID.4 has lease and finance deals that make it one of the most affordable EVs on the market today, but only for a limited time.

How Does It Stack Up to the 2024 ID.4 Deals?

If pricing for the 2025 ID.4 seems a little high, that’s because it is, at least compared to the 2024 ID.4 S lease deal, which is one of the best on the market right now. Through March 3rd, Volkswagen is offering the 2024 ID.4 S for $189 per month on a 24-month lease, after a $7,500 EV lease bonus, with only $999 due at signing. If leasing isn’t the right fit, there’s also a 0% APR financing option for 72 months, plus a $5,000 customer bonus.

That means a buyer could finance a 2024 ID.4 at a lower interest rate with a direct discount, making it considerably more attractive than the 2025 models, especially when factoring in feature differences. The 2025 ID.4 brings some updates, but the 2024 version still delivers impressive range, a spacious interior, and solid technology for a much lower cost. And don’t worrythe door handle recall has been addressed (with free repairs!).

Should You Wait or Buy Now?

The 2025 ID.4 comes with improvements, but not enough to overshadow the financial incentives for the 2024 model. If the newest software and small feature tweaks aren’t a priority, the 2024 ID.4 offers an unbeatable value, at least until March 3rd.

For those who want the latest model and don’t mind paying extra, the 2025 versions will roll out with slight enhancements. Either way, Volkswagen is keeping its electric SUV competitive in a rapidly evolving market.
