Eskute, a brand that’s been making electric scooters, is now entering the U.S. market with five new electric bicycles. They also recently launched bikes in Europe.
The bikes include a mountain bike, a city/commuter e-bike, two fat tire bikes and a folding bike, hoping to entice American consumers and fill the needs of many. Pricing on these bikes ranges from $1099 to $1999, and they’re all available now with immediate shipping from the company’s website and via Amazon.
The European versions top out at 250W motors and 15.5 mph top speed, whereas the American versions will offer higher-output motors and have a throttle.
ESKUTE STAR
The Star is a folding, 20” fat-tire bike that is portable and storable. This bike can fold and fit in a closet, or (so they claim) under a desk. We’re a bit skeptical on that, as the fat tires can significantly increase the size of the bike when folded, especially when compared to other 20” folding e-bikes. The fat tires do help with ride quality, and because it’s paired with a suspension fork, bumps in the road transfer way less energy to the rider, offering a much more comfortable ride.
It has a 500W motor, a massive 960Wh battery that they claim offers up to 80 miles of range, and a 300 lb total payload capacity. A Shimano 7-speed drivetrain allows you to pedal comfortably on hills and flat ground. The full color display even has an integrated USB port to charge your smartphone. Hydraulic disc brakes slow or stop you, and there’s integrated LED lighting for night riding and daytime visibility.
Price is $1499.
ESKUTE SPARK X AND Y
The Spark X and Spark Y bikes are 26” fat bikes. The Spark X is a hardtail bike with a suspension fork and comes with 26×4.0” tires, and the Spark Y is a full-suspension bike with a suspension fork and rear shocks, along with 26×4.8” tires.
Both bikes feature a 960Wh battery and a 750W Bafang rear hub motor that they claim will offer 40 miles of range on throttle-only or up to 70 miles using pedal-assist, with a top speed of 28 mph (Class 3). Both have a Shimano 7-speed drivetrain and can handle up to 400 lbs of total payload.
Price is $1599.
ESKUTE NETUNO
The Netuno is a mountain-style bike, a hardtail with a suspension fork. The fork can be locked out. It features a 500W Bafang rear hub motor and a 720Wh battery, with a claimed 50-mile range.
Price is $1099
ESKUTE POLLUNO
Their commuter bike is called the Polluno. It features a low step-through frame, suspension fork, fenders, an included rear rack and integrated lighting front- and rear. It has a 500W Bafang rear hub motor, 720Wh battery that claims up to 60 miles per charge.
Kenda 27.5×2.1” tires offer plenty of grip, and are even slightly knobby in case you go on unpaved paths.
Price is $1099.
