Hold onto your helmets, folks, because the Verge TS Ultra is about to shake things up in the electric motorcycle world. This bad boy was previously only available in Europe, but now it’s opened reservations in the U.S. after showing off an updated model at CES 2023.
But what makes this bike so special? Well, for starters, it’s got a wild drivetrain design. The rear wheel motor is hubless – meaning there’s no hub to the wheel. Instead, the motor’s copper core and magnet ring are housed in the outer portion of the wheel. It might sound complicated, it’s an intriguing and advantageous move. Putting the motor so far out from the wheel’s axis of revolution helps increase the torque, giving the Verge TS Ultra a peak power of 150 kW and a peak torque of 1,200 Nm.
But it’s not just about the specs. This design also pays off in the aesthetics department. It’s a sleek and futuristic looking motorcycle that will definitely turn some heads. And with a top speed of 200 km/h (124 mph), it’s a beast on the streets. With that much power, the Verge TS Ultra boasts a 0-60 mph time of just 2.5 seconds.
The company hasn’t listed a battery pack size for the TS Ultra, but it claims a maximum range of 359 km (223 miles). And if you do happen to run out of juice, the bike’s DC fast charging option will ensure speedy recharges on longer trips: Verge claims a recharging time of just 25 minutes during fast charging.
The Verge TS and TS Pro have less powerful specs, but they still offer impressive performance with 0-60 mph times of 4.5 and 3.5 seconds, respectively. The TS has a starting price of $26,900, while the TS Pro costs $29,900. The top-performing TS Ultra model is significantly more expensive at $44,900.
Verge’s CEO, Tuomo Lehtimäki, said they’re working on entering the U.S. market in select states and hope to start sales and deliveries in 2023.
