Volvo Electrified Vehicles Hit Record Demand in November

Demand for Volvo’s electrified vehicles is surging, and the numbers prove it. In November 2023, Volvo Car in the USA and Canada achieved a record-breaking milestone, selling 13,569 cars, reflecting a 3.8% increase compared to the same month last year.

Electrified models, including fully electric (BEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) vehicles, were the real stars, experiencing a remarkable 55.3% growth and accounting for 41.2% of all sales.

In the United States, Volvo achieved its highest-ever November sales, according to the report, delivering 12,259 vehicles, a 5% increase compared to 2023. Electrified models were a dominant force, with sales skyrocketing by 57.8% and comprising 39.1% of the total.

The XC60 compact luxury SUV stole the spotlight in November, selling an impressive 4,713 units, a massive 48.7% increase over last year. The reasons are clear. The XC60 delivers a perfect mix of Volvo’s renowned safety features and advanced technology.

Close behind was the XC90 midsize luxury SUV, with 4,711 vehicles sold, reflecting a 28.8%increase. The XC90 has long been a favorite among families, thanks to its spacious three-row layout and lineup of electrified powertrains. The XC90’s plug-in hybrid version delivers great fuel efficiency while keeping its power and luxury intact.

While Canada’s overall sales may have slipped by 6.8%, electrified models saw a surge of sales for PHEVs and BEVs by an impressive 41.8%, making up a massive 60.3% of all sales. It was Volvo’s best month ever for plug-in vehicles in Canada, proving their increasing popularity among drivers.

Volvo is adjusting its strategy to meet customers where they are. Originally planning for a fully electric lineup by 2030, the company is now taking a more flexible approach. This shift includes a mix of fully electric and hybrid models, giving buyers more choices.

With options like the all-electric EX30 and EX90 already on the market, Volvo is offering a preview of their future of electric vehicles while catering to those who still value hybrid technology.

Mike Cottone, President of Volvo Car USA and Canada, highlighted the brand’s commitment to delivering value through technology and safety. “We are proud of our performance and how our electrified models continue to resonate with our customers,” he said. “No matter which model they choose, they can trust it will come with the safety and technology Volvo is known for.”
