Model S Plaid Hits 216 MPH Top Speed

Hacked Tesla Model S Plaid Flies Past 200 MPH On A Runway

How fast could a Tesla Model S Plaid go if its top speed wasn’t software locked? Now we know, and it’s SO fast, you guys!

Ingenext, a Quebec-based company better known for selling modules that help unlock software-locked features in Tesla vehicles, has managed to get around the software limitations in the Model S Plaid to completely unlock the car’s top speed potential … and last week, our friend, Fred Lambert of Electrek, drove out to the Trois-Rivières airport in Québec, Canada to the test.

How’d the car do? You read the headline already, so you know — the hacked Tesla Model S Plaid drove right up to Elon Musk’s claimed “200 MPH” top speed, and kept right on going to a supercar-baiting 216 MPH. That’s about 5 MPH faster than the Ferrari SF90 hybrid, and just 1 MPH shy of the McLaren P1 hybrid hypercar.

So, you know, it’s moving!

That said, you probably didn’t come here to read. Instead, you’re here to watch this insane, 216 MPH top speed run for yourself. You can watch Fred’s video, below, then let us know what you think of the Tesla’s run in the comment section at the bottom of the page.
