Kevin Giek, head of the model line, proudly states, “We ushered in the new era of e-mobility with the Taycan at the end of 2019. It immediately proved to be a game changer and innovative pioneer in the e-vehicle segment.” He continues, “We are now continuing this success story with the extensively updated Taycan. The model line has reached new heights in terms of performance, with exceptional driving dynamics and driving pleasure. At the same time, we were able to significantly improve efficiency, range, day-to-day usability, and comfort.”
This substantial update impacts all three body variants for the 2024 Porsche Taycan: the Taycan sports sedan, the versatile Taycan Cross Turismo, and the practical yet sporty Taycan Sport Turismo. Each variant now offers four powertrain options, featuring both rear- and all-wheel-drive setups. This refreshed range will be available in Porsche Centres from the spring of 2024.
On their journey to series production, Porsche’s development engineers and test drivers covered over 3.6 million kilometers (2.24 million miles) in camouflaged test cars across the globe. This extensive testing ensures the 2024 Porsche Taycan delivers on its promise of a more powerful and efficient electric vehicle. Since its debut, Porsche has produced almost 150,000 examples of the Taycan, with the largest markets being the US, the UK, Germany, and China.
Faster Acceleration and Enhanced Power
The 2024 Porsche Taycan models feature significantly faster acceleration compared to their predecessors. For instance, the base Taycan and Taycan Turbo S reach 100 km/h (60 mph) from a standstill in just 4.8 and 2.4 seconds, respectively – faster by 0.6 and 0.4 seconds. This improvement is due to the enhanced system output, with the base Taycan delivering 60 kW more power and the Taycan Turbo S offering an additional 140 kW with Launch Control.

Porsche has also introduced the push-to-pass function1 in the Sport Chrono package, providing a boost of up to 70 kW for 10 seconds at the push of a button. The Porsche report elaborates, “With the new push-to-pass function, we’ve created a thrilling driving experience that reflects Porsche’s high-performance DNA.”
Increased Range and Faster Charging
Porsche has addressed the need for longer range and faster charging in the updated Taycan. Depending on the body variant and engine, the WLTP range has increased by up to 678 km (421 mi), a 35 percent increase from the previous model. The updated Taycan also charges faster, with the ability to charge at 800-volt DC stations at up to 320 kW – 50 kW more than before. This improvement means the charging time from 10 to 80 percent SOC is now just 18 minutes, half the time compared to the previous Taycan.
New Active Chassis and Efficiency Measures
All updated Porsche Taycan models in 2024 come with adaptive air suspension as standard, with Porsche Active Ride available for all-wheel-drive variants. This new system balances driving comfort and dynamics, maintaining a level body during dynamic maneuvers. Porsche has also incorporated a range of efficiency measures, including a new rear-axle motor, revised pulse inverter software, and more powerful batteries. The updated Taycan also includes a new heat pump, offering improved thermal management and a next-generation recuperation strategy with increased capacity.
Enhanced Standard Equipment and Sleeker Design
Porsche has equipped the Taycan in 2024 with more standard features while reducing its overall weight. The updated Taycan is up to 15 kilograms (33 pounds) lighter than before, with adaptive air suspension and aluminum door sill protectors now standard across the range. Porsche’s Style team has also refined the Taycan’s design, introducing new front and rear styling, as well as new headlights and tail lights. The Porsche logo in the rear light strip now features a three-dimensional, glass-look design, with an illuminated version available for the first time.
Improved Control and Display Concept
The Porsche Taycan offers an enhanced driver experience in 2024 with an optimized user interface across the instrument cluster, central display, and optional passenger display. The mode switch on the steering wheel comes as standard, and the new control lever behind the steering wheel provides intuitive control of the driver assistance systems. Apple CarPlay has been more deeply integrated into the vehicle displays and functions, offering seamless connectivity for drivers and passengers. The new In-Car Video function even enables video streaming on the central display and the passenger display, adding a new level of entertainment to the Taycan’s interior.
With the 2024 Taycan, Porsche continues to set the benchmark for electric vehicle performance, range, and design. This extensive update demonstrates Porsche’s commitment to delivering new technology while maintaining its signature driving dynamics and performance. The Taycan’s journey has only just begun, and we’re excited to see where it takes us.
