The North American market is poised for a transformation with the launch of an innovative, energy-efficient Volvo heavy-duty truck platform. The implementation of this platform is set to slash fuel consumption by up to 10%, depending on the vehicle’s configuration, usage, and other factors.

This platform underscores the Volvo heavy-duty truck suite of vehicles comprising electric and renewable fuel technologies alongside optimized combustion engines. Overseas, Volvo is also planning the launch of the new Volvo FH Aero. This model, meticulously developed for energy-efficient heavy-duty transport, is engineered to decrease energy consumption and corresponding CO2 emissions by up to 5%. With a suite of propulsion options that include electric, biogas, and diesel powertrains, the new Volvo FH Aero amplifies the progress made in fuel-saving technologies. This model is scheduled for a market-by-market debut throughout 2024 and 2025, with first sales starting in Q1 of 2024.

The move reflects Volvo Group’s unwavering commitment to decarbonization, making battery-electric solutions, hydrogen fuel cell electric technologies, and advanced internal combustion engines all compatible with renewable fuels.

This larger launch will also feature Volvo Group’s first truck model developed strictly with a battery-electric powertrain, designed specifically for urban transport. By broadening its electric lineup from six to eight models, Volvo now offers a more comprehensive range of Volvo heavy-duty trucks, addressing a vast spectrum of transportation needs on a global scale.
