CATL Unveils Shenxing PLUS, Featuring 1,000 km Range and 4C Superfast Charging

  • China-based Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) unveiled its Shenxing PLUS — the world’s first LFP battery that achieves a range above 1,000 km (621 miles) with 4C superfast charging.

China has again pushed the boundaries of lithium iron phosphate battery (LFP) EV technology with a new CATL battery. China-based Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) is a global leader in new energy technologies. At Auto China 2024, CATL unveiled its Shenxing PLUS. The Shenxing PLUS is the world’s first LFP battery that achieves a range above 1,000 kilometers, (621 miles) featuring 4C superfast charging.

Details About the Shenxing PLUS Battery Tech

At the core of this CATL battery breakthrough is the introduction of a cutting-edge cathode technology in the Shenxing PLUS. Utilizing granular gradation technology, the technology meticulously positions every nanometer particle to attain an ultra-high compact density.

Complementing this, the Shenxing PLUS incorporates a proprietary anode material characterized by a unique 3D honeycomb structure. This innovation significantly increases energy density while adeptly managing volume expansion across charge and discharge cycles, ensuring durability and reliability.

Another industry-first feature contributing to this remarkable achievement is the single-piece casing design. This innovative approach maximizes internal space utilization, enabling the Shenxing PLUS cells to achieve an energy density level that was once deemed unattainable.

The Shenxing PLUS battery pack boasts a topological structure that has been optimized on top of module-free CTP 3.0 technology, to enhance packing efficiency by an impressive 7%.

The Shenxing battery system surpasses the 200 Wh/kg energy density threshold for the first time. The battery system now achieves an unprecedented energy density of 205 Wh/kg, setting a new industry standard and making electric vehicle ranges of over 1,000 kilometers (621 miles) a tangible reality.

An Amazing 600-km Range on a 10-Minute Charge

Shenxing PLUS not only offers an impressive long range but also boasts a groundbreaking 4C superfast charging feature. In a mere 10 minutes, a vehicle can be charged to deliver a stunning 600-kilometer (372.8 miles) range, vastly outperforming the current market standards. This remarkable achievement translates to a superfast charging speed of 1 kilometer per second, propelling Shenxing PLUS into the forefront of electric vehicle technology.

By incorporating state-of-the-art technologies such as fast lithium-ion conductive coating, the addition of transition metal elements, and innovative nanometer encapsulation, Shenxing PLUS ensures smoother and more efficient energy transmission between cathode and anode materials.

CATL, a leader in battery innovations, has significantly expanded the overcurrent area and capacity of the terminals within the battery system. This enhancement allows for rapid heat dissipation during high-current charging sessions, marking a significant leap forward in charging efficiency and safety.

Moreover, at the core of this technological marvel is CATL’s newly-developed AI polarization model. This advanced model is capable of predicting and controlling the charging current in real time. This enables not only faster but also smarter energy replenishment, ensuring that devices powered by Shenxing PLUS stay ahead in the fast-paced world of technology.

The Shenxing Superfast Charging Network, the Largest Superfast Charging Service Platform in China
