Toyota’s approach to electric vehicles highlights diversity, tailoring products and services to meet the unique needs of its global customer base. Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Hiroki Nakajima stressed this point at a press conference, stating, “What kind of BEV would bring smiles to the faces of our Chinese customers? Working with our partners in China, this quest led us to the bZ3C and the bZ3X.”

Both of the Toyota electric SUV models started off as concepts at Auto Shanghai last year but have since undergone refinements to prepare for mass production, showcasing Toyota’s commitment to responding quickly to market needs.

The bZ3C was developed in collaboration with several key partners, including BYD TOYOTA EV TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD., FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd., and Intelligent ElectroMobility R&D Center by TOYOTA (China) Co., Ltd. (IEM by TOYOTA). This model represents the concept of a “Reboot,” bringing a dynamic and uniquely styled crossover BEV to the market. Designed with younger Generation Z consumers in mind, the bZ3C provides a fun, personal space that caters to their lifestyle.

Toyota’s second new offering, the bZ3X, was developed with Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd., GAC Toyota Motor Co., Ltd., and IEM by TOYOTA. This family-friendly SUV-type BEV offers a spacious interior designed around the concept of a mobile “Cozy Home.” The bZ3X is designed to offer families comfort and versatility during their travels, seamlessly blending practicality with luxurious electric features.

These features provide new experience value, aligning with Toyota’s vision of a future where mobility is synonymous with smiles and diversity.

Toyota’s unveiling at the Beijing Auto Show highlights the company’s commitment to a multi-pathway approach to carbon neutrality. By introducing these two new electric SUV models, Toyota continues to demonstrate its ability to innovate and adapt to the evolving needs of customers in every region, contributing to a sustainable and diverse mobility future.

In the coming year, Toyota plans to launch the bZ3C and bZ3X electric SUV models in China, further expanding its electrified portfolio and maintaining its dedication to serving customers globally.
